Tree Trimming & Pruning

Professional pruning following ANSI A300 standards and industry BMPs. We genuinely care about tree health—using proper structural pruning techniques to help your trees thrive, never topping, always with long-term vitality in mind.

We Genuinely Care About Your Trees

Trees are living investments, and we want to help yours thrive—not just survive. Proper pruning improves health, extends lifespan, and keeps your property safe. But improper pruning—especially topping—can cause lasting damage that’s expensive or impossible to reverse.
At TreeTop Solutions, we follow ANSI A300 pruning standards and industry Best Management Practices (BMPs). Owner Kasyn Stone has hands-on experience in structural pruning—training young trees to develop strong architecture and correcting problems in mature trees. Every cut we make has a purpose: to benefit the tree’s structure, health, or your property’s safety.

Send us photos of your trees and we'll provide a detailed quote—often the same day.

Remove dead, diseased, or crossing branches to improve overall tree vitality.

Property Protection

Clear branches from rooflines, gutters, and structures before they cause damage.

Light & Views

Open up canopy for better sunlight and improved views without removing trees.

Storm Resistance

Reduce wind load and remove weak branches that could fail in storms.

Types of Pruning We Offer

Removal of dead, dying, diseased, and broken branches. The most basic and important pruning for any tree.
Removing lower branches to provide clearance for structures, vehicles, pedestrians, or views.
Training young trees to develop strong architecture and good branch spacing for long-term health.
Selective removal of interior branches to improve light and air penetration while maintaining natural form.
Reducing the overall size of the canopy using proper cuts that maintain tree health—never topping.
Selective thinning to open specific views while preserving the tree’s screening and aesthetic value.

We Follow ANSI A300 & Industry BMPs

ANSI A300 is the nationally recognized standard for tree care operations, and Best Management Practices (BMPs) translate these standards into practical field applications. By following these guidelines, we ensure your trees receive science-based care that supports their long-term health—not shortcuts that cause problems down the road.

Tree Trimming & Pruning FAQs

Common questions about professional tree pruning

The terms are often used interchangeably, but technically trimming focuses on shaping and aesthetics—controlling size and appearance. Pruning is more strategic, removing specific branches for tree health, structure, and safety. At TreeTop Solutions, we approach every job with both goals in mind.

Most mature trees benefit from pruning every 3-5 years. Younger trees may need more frequent structural pruning to develop good form. Fast-growing species or trees near structures may need attention every 1-2 years. We can assess your trees and recommend a maintenance schedule.

Late winter to early spring (February-March) is ideal for most species—trees are dormant, and you can see the branch structure clearly. However, dead or hazardous branches should be removed anytime. Some flowering trees have specific timing requirements we can advise on.

Proper pruning following ISA standards actually benefits trees by removing dead wood, improving air circulation, and reducing weight on weak branches. Poor pruning—like topping—can seriously harm trees. We follow science-based practices that support long-term tree health.

Topping is the harmful practice of cutting main branches back to stubs. It causes rapid, weak regrowth, opens the tree to decay, and ruins the tree’s natural form. We never top trees. Instead, we use reduction cuts and proper thinning techniques that maintain tree health.

Small tree trimming typically ranges from $150-$400. Medium trees run $400-$800, and large trees with complex access can range from $800-$1,500+. The cost depends on tree size, location, and how much work is needed. We provide free quotes before any work begins.

We can trim trees near (but not touching) power lines following safety protocols. Trees actually touching or within the utility’s clearance zone require coordination with the power company. We can assess your situation and advise on next steps.

We use ropes to lower large limbs rather than letting them fall, place protective mats under work areas, and clean up thoroughly afterward. For trimming near structures, we take extra precautions to prevent any contact or damage.

Crown thinning selectively removes interior branches to improve light penetration and air circulation without changing the tree’s overall size or shape. It reduces wind resistance while maintaining the tree’s natural form. It’s one of the most beneficial pruning techniques.

Yes. Proper pruning removes deadwood that can become projectiles, reduces wind load, and eliminates weak branch attachments that are likely to fail. A well-pruned tree is significantly more storm-resistant than a neglected one.

We can set up a recurring maintenance schedule based on your trees’ needs—typically every 2-3 years for most properties. We’ll track what was done and when, ensuring consistent care. Ask about our maintenance planning when you get a quote.

We haul away all debris as part of our standard service. If you’d like wood chips for mulch, we can leave them at no extra charge. Some customers also want firewood-sized logs left behind—just let us know your preference.
